Dear Family of First Lutheran Church,
Last evening, Council voted to move all worship services online only for the next month. Please find us on Zoom for Sunday service; email the church office for the link and login information. *Online worship will be Sunday, September 12 through Sunday, October 10.* Council will reevaluate and vote again at their meeting on Thursday, October 14.
This decision was made in response to the current COVID impact in our community, especially on the healthcare system. McLennan County currently has the highest rate of hospitalization in the state of Texas and all aspects of healthcare (COVID and non-COVID) are under tremendous strain.
Local leadership has asked for community support in all of us doing our part to reduce opportunity for virus spread. Bishop Erik Gronberg continues in asking each congregation to participate in that effort. From the Bishop in August: “Every context and community in this situation has different realities and so it is vital that your congregation and community adjust to those realities and prioritize caring not just for ourselves but for our neighbors.”
As I have written before, we’re all tired, we’re all disappointed to backtrack on this subject. Thank you for your understanding and support, we sincerely hope things will improve over the coming weeks so we can return to the ESC. We will continue to stay in touch and make announcements about how previously planned activities and events will be affected.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Pastor Austin or myself.
Thank you very much, we look forward to seeing you online.
Shelly Tanabe, FLC Council President
